A juicy day!
My stomach has been out of balance and rumbling due to of all the partying lately ;-). After my trip to Barcelona, Easter, King’s Day and my birthday party, my digestive system has become slightly confused. You would think that all the healthy food I eat would have built up my immune system and toughened up my intestines… But nope, my stomach actually gets upset when I eat even a little differently than I’m used to for too long. I won’t bother you guys with the details, but suffice it to say, a rumbling tummy is a sign for me to take a balance day!
A balance day for me means drinking six or seven juices or smoothies over the course of the day – delicious! In a way, you’re actually cleansing your body from the inside. You can find several recipes for delicious juices and smoothies on my website and can choose from any of them on your balance day! A balance day isn’t about deprivation or punishment; you’re really doing your body a huuuuge favor. The 24 hours are over before you know it and afterwards, you’ll be bursting with energy! I always whip up this juicy juice on my balance days:
Ingredients (makes approx. 600 ml)
3 large carrots
1 inch of peeled ginger
1 orange, peeled
1 lime, peeled
2 slices of pineapple
A handful of parsley
Roughly chop the carrots, apple, ginger, oranges and lime and put them in your juicer. When juiced, pour into your blender, add the other ingredients and mix away!
Does it seem a little too daunting to live off of juice alone for an entire day? Mix up a salad made from arugula, tomatoes and cucumber for yourself. That way, you can chew a little but you won’t disrupt your juice fast.
