A healthy start
Do you want to detoxify your body? I can help you with this. I think tips and tricks always come in handy, but they are just a small step in the right direction. It all comes down to doing it and maintaining it. Just try it out and see how you feel! Here are five tips for a healthier lifestyle:
1. Start your day with lukewarm water with freshly-squeezed lemon juice
2. Eat one avocado a day
3. As a snack, eat a handful of unsalted, raw nuts
4. Drink 2 cups of detox tea everyday
5. Finish your day with my ‘feel good drink’ at night
Start your day with lukewarm water with freshly-squeezed lemon juice (1/2 lemon)
Lemon juice stimulates the cleansing effect of your liver and supports it in removing the toxic substances that run accumulate in your body every day. It helps you lose weight as it stimulates your digestion and intestines. Also, lemon juice is rich in vitamin C, helps combat bloating and gives you radiant, beautiful skin. I think these are several good reasons to try it out!
Eat one avocado a day
Half an avocado is equal to a fifth of the recommended daily intake of fruit and veggies. This fruit is filled with fiber, vitamins and minerals – including an amazing amount of potassium. It also contains essential fatty acids and the fiber protects your intestines. The vitamin A in avocado keeps your hair, skin and bones healthy and boosts your immune system. How do you eat it? Put it on your crackers, bread or in your salad. Yum!
As a snack, eat a handful of unsalted, raw nuts
Take a handful of unsalted, raw nuts to school or work as a snack. They’re easy to take with you, are filling and are full of healthy fatty acids, minerals and vitamins.
Drink 2 cups of detox tea a day
By drinking detox tea, you support and stimulate your body’s natural cleansing processes. I always drink Yogi Tea’s ‘Detox’ tea or Pukka (+/- €3, available at organic food stores). It contains natural spices and herbs that stimulate detoxification and cleansing of the body.
Feel good night drink
Try to end your day every day with my ‘feel good drink’. Within a week, your skin will look vibrant and healthy and as a bonus, you’ll feel more energized throughout your days. Add two pinches each of turmeric, powdered ginger, a teaspoon of honey, a chamomile teabag, half a teaspoon of black pepper and the juice of half a lemon together in a big mug and add boiling water. Stir and allow to steep for a few minutes. Ginger will warm you up, chamomile has a calming effect and lemon and turmeric improve your digestion. Healthy and yummy, enjoy!
