It’s barbecue-time !
It’s barbecue time! And, of course, because of my detox I haven’t been able to enjoy barbecuing just yet. It’s been a little frustrating, smelling all these delicious smells while strolling in the park. Argh! It made me long for some fun quality time with my friends at the park; chilling with a glass of wine, some meat, a little French bread… It’s the best thing on earth! But, barbecuing just isn’t very healthy. Though it is possible to skip the bread and choose fish, organic meats or grilled veggies instead, the black smoke coming from your good old barbecue is still harmful to your body. On top of it all, the smoke isn’t great for your skin and the chemicals in the fire starters you use are quite hazardous as well.
I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t go looking for a healthy alternative! Which is how I bumped into this ‘clean cook stove’ named COOX. This stove is actually designed for people who don’t have a gas or electric stove at hand, but it’s equally good when you’re chillin’ in the park and don’t want to inhale tons of smoke.
Using the COOX is a piece of cake. You make a little fire in the bottom. It has a cover, which will ensures that only little to no smoke comes out. Since you use a pan to cook, your foods don’t get direct exposure to smoke. I’ve made some delicious fried eggs, stir-fried veggies and even quinoa on it already! Have your friends over for a cook out in your backyard or cook the night away in the park – it’s so much fun. And when you’re done, the COOX stops automatically, but will still keep you nice and warm if it gets a little chilly at night.
