Every morning, I enjoy a big cup of coffee. I love the taste and smell of it and when I have a little almond milk in my fridge, I love to make a big latte. It’s true, you really can wake me up for a good cup of coffee! I always drink herbal tea or a glass of water on the side though because coffee is a diuretic and depletes your body of fluids. Or does it?
When I was on a press trip and ordered a coffee, someone told me that it isn’t true that coffee depletes your body of fluids! I thought it was a little weird because I’d never heard anything other than that I should be drinking liters of water to compensate for my daily shot of caffeine! Well, it isn’t true! Lucky me! If you refrain from drinking enormous amounts of coffee, it isn’t a diuretic – a substance that causes dehydration. So, if you drink black coffee that isn’t too strong (no more than about 2 cups a day) there’s no problem at all. What a relief! Still, it’s really refreshing to drink a glass of water before you drink your coffee to neutralize your taste buds.
Coffee’s also really good for your skin – I discovered this while using Frank’s Coffee Scrub from Australia. It’s body scrub for in the shower that’s made of coffee! You can buy it from Frank Body or make it yourself – it’s really easy!
100 grams of freshly-ground coffee
2 tablespoon of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of fine sea salt
2 tablespoons of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of orange juice
I’m telling you, it’ll make your skin super smooth and healthy and you’ll even enjoy the coffee smell in your shower.
