Freedom!
King’s day and my birthday have come and gone, but the next party is already around the corner: Liberation Day, on May 5th. Our country has yet another reason to celebrate: freedom! I’ll be celebrating Liberation Day at a festival at a park in Amsterdam, with friends, dancing and enjoying some good food.
Freedom is an amazing concept to just stop consider for a minute. Especially when it comes to food. We Dutchies (and hopefully you too) have the opportunity to choose from everything and anything that is available to us. We can choose the foods that are best for us as well as the foods that we like the best. We have so much CHOICE! In my opinion, that’s freedom! I’ve been more aware of this for the last couple of weeks, which has been driving the people closest to me a little nuts. I keep pointing out to them how happy we should be with every meal we eat. In reality though, there are many countries in which you can’t choose between ten different organic jams when you’re at the grocery store. And that’s just one example of a luxury product we have access to. Being able to decide what to eat from amongst the best organic foods, fresh veggies, fruits and superfoods and having the luxury of worrying about a cheat meal now and then means you’re truly rich!
So be conscious of your freedom and appreciate every bite to the fullest while celebrating Liberation Day, my Dutchies (or any holiday in your home country) with loads of healthy drinks and foods! Enjoy!
