It’s going to be a sugarless Christmas
I definitely have a love/hate relationship with food during the winter months, especially in December. There are so many tasty things to eat on the shelves! One way or another, these things always make their way into my shopping cart. Generally speaking, I’m quite good at restraining myself, but now that it’s getting colder, I find it more difficult than usual to say no to all the gingerbread and Christmas cake. At home, I cuddle up under a blanket with a cup of tea… And, of course, I need something sweet to go with that tea. It’s also a festive time of year, with elaborate dinner parties with friends and family. Irresistible! But I’m still going to try…
This year, during these oh-so festive months, I’m going to avoid refined sugar as much as possible. It’s a difficult challenge, but refined sugar just isn’t good for you. It’s hard on your skin, contributes to your love handles and wreaks havoc on your mood due to the infamous sugar rush and the ensuing crash. What’s more, January becomes even more depressing when you’re faced with that extra Christmas weight you’ve put on.
So this is why I’m getting a head start on my New Year’s resolutions this year. The plan: Christmas without refined sugar! Who’s with me?
For those of you who want to celebrate a sugarless Christmas, I’ve come up with a recipe just for you. Bye bye Christmas cake, hello Sweet X-mas Muffins!
