This drink can give you a great boost before you go for a run or a work out. The cayenne pepper and banana provide you with lots of energy and the hemp powder provide protein, which slows the absorption of the sugars that the smoothie contains so that the energy it provides lasts for longer. The beets help you run faster as they lower blood pressure and even decrease the amount of oxygen you require for exertion a little bit, which, in turn, increases your endurance. So, I say: hey ho, let’s go!
+/- 500 ml
juicer (centrifugal or slowjuicer)
2 large beets (ca. 50 ml)
a pinch of cayenne pepper
1 tsp hemp protein powder
200 ml oat milk or almond milk
Roughly chop the beets and process them in the juicer. Slice the lime in half and squeeze out the juice into the blender. Add the banana and the other ingredients, including the beet juice, to the lime juice in the blender and blend until creamy and red.
You really do need to have a juicer to get the juice out of those beets, but if you don’t own one, you can easily use concentrated beet juice which is available to buy at the supermarket!
