There are always so many great things on the agenda for November: Sint Maarten (a Dutch holiday somewhat reminiscent of Halloween, celebrated on the 11th of November), the arrival of Sinterklaas (the Dutch version of Santa Claus) in the Netherlands and Thanksgiving… And in additionto all this, we’ve got a bunch of promotions and collaborations planned. It’s busy, but fun!
My favorite holiday in November has to be Sint Maarten. It’s so incredibly fun and sweet to see all the children out with their self-made lanterns. As a reward for their efforts, I always give them a treat. But should we give them candy? Or fruit and healthy snacks.
When I was a kid, my parents always let me choose. I was allowed to either keep the candy or ‘trade it in’ to my parents (who would then throw it out) in exchange for €5. I always chose the money because I could buy something fun for myself with it. For those who don’t want to give money, but still want to contribute to a healthier Sint Maarten or Halloween, here is a tasty recipe for you: chocopuffs!
P.S. In order to keep up with all the hustle and bustle around here, I’ve expanded Team Rens Kroes! As of recently, my right-hand woman has been Sophie Borghouts. She is studying to become a nutritionist, assists me with everything under the sun and will soon also be blogging on renskroes.com. See you there!
