Family Kroes Christmas
Christmas at the Kroes’s… My sister and I used to wake up happily on Christmas morning to John Lennon singing ‘Happy Christmas’. We would skip and hop to the kitchen, still in our PJs where we’d find our parents already preparing for Christmas dinner.
Throughout the day, we’d play games with our grandparents, eat homemade cookies and try our best not to ruin our appetites for the Christmas dinner my daddy would cook for us! Goose, hare, chicken, duck… When our dad cooks, he really cooks. He turns it into a huge party! He’d get the poultry from our little town’s own hunter, so it couldn’t have been any more fresh. He would combine it with endive, unsweetened stewed pears, a great fresh salad and new potatoes. It was always a true feast, and everything was always organic and healthy!
I’ve always hung on to this kind of Christmas dinner; it’s just as delicious and festive as a regular Christmas dinner, but it’s a lot healthier. Sure, you can cheat a little during the holidays, but you can make it easier on yourself by buying fresh and organic ingredients. When, like me, you’re not accustomed to eating a lot of sweets and fatty foods, you won’t crave cookies and chocolates that much during the holidays. For me, the way I eat is a lifestyle and as my clients tell me, when you make this lifestyle your own, it’s so much easier to make healthier choices. Even at Christmas!
But do you love your sweets ;-)? Make a healthier choice and go for these chocolate muffins.
Have a happy & healthy Christmas!
