What’s in my fridge?

08.09.2017
Ingrediënten | Blog | Know | by: Rens Kroes

I love my fridge, so I thought it might be fun to reveal its contents to you… I always find it inspiring to have a look in someone else’s fridge. I’ll often sneak a peak when I’m at my friends’ houses. I really can’t live without a fridge. Back in the day, everyone had a cellar (I can even remember that my grandfather had one) and used to cook, can, sugar, dry and ferment food to keep in edible for longer. Now we’re all spoiled and everyone has a fridge in their home. How ‘chill’ is that?!

The fridge in question is in my office kitchen and, as you can see, is super full because I’m always cooking. I like to make sure I always have a variety of supplies on hand so that I can experiment. And you might be thinking, hey! Tomatoes, eggs and that fruit don’t need to be kept in the fridge! But for the purposes of this photo, I just put all the standard weekly groceries in there for you to see. The contents of the fridge differ with each season, of course.

Food
Most mornings, I drink a smoothie or eat a bowl of fruit and coconut yogurt. I use dates in my baking (like in my banana bread) or just eat them for a snack (so tasty!). The vegetables and sprouts are for my lunch salads with goat cheese or tempeh. Every two weeks, I make spreads, like hummus and pesto. I heat and froth my oat milk (or other plant-based milk) for my coffee in the morning (oat milk is the best here!) and the apple cider vinegar is for my morning drink or for use in baking. I used to always make (and sell) my own kombucha, but since I’m so busy these days, I stopped (I’m planning to start again soon though!). Now I buy this fermented drink at the organic supermarket and drink it in the late afternoon. So refreshing!

Leftovers
Experimenting with leftovers is actually my favorite thing to do. I really hate throwing food away – seriously, so much gets thrown away. Usually its because we end up making too much or buying too much or leaving things unused in the fridge until they’re not good anymore. This is why I always make sure my fridge is well organized and that I can see everything that’s in there. I also have a good look at what’s in the fridge before I do a new round of grocery shopping. Often there’s enough leftovers or other ingredients in there to make another meal. Meals and snacks are usually just as tasty the next day if they’ve been kept properly and are served again with care and attention. And to be honest, some things taste even better on the second day because the flavors have had the time to incorporate even more. Because everything is already cooked and marinated, all you usually have to do is warm up your leftovers in the oven.

Every so often, it does happen that I make a few recipes all at once for the blog, vlog or for a new book and that I end the day with tons of ingredients and dishes leftover, but thankfully, the team keeps getting bigger so we an usually just enjoy the food together. If it still doesn’t get eaten, I share it or take it home when family and friends come over to eat.

Love,

Rens

I am the business owner of JustCBD label (justcbdstore.com) and am looking to grow my wholesale side of company. I am hoping someone at targetdomain share some guidance . I thought that the most suitable way to accomplish this would be to talk to vape companies and cbd retail stores. I was really hoping if anybody could suggest a qualified web-site where I can purchase CBD Shops Business Sales Leads I am currently looking at creativebeartech.com, theeliquidboutique.co.uk and wowitloveithaveit.com. Unsure which one would be the best choice and would appreciate any advice on this. Or would it be easier for me to scrape my own leads? Ideas?
